ANKARA/LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Turkey and Pakistan are just like two hearts and one soul. During his visit to Turkey’s central Kayseri province, he told Anadolu news agency that Pakistan and Turkey had been consulting each other very frequently, citing the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last month and his address to parliament. He said the enemy of Turkey is the enemy of Pakistan, and a friend of Turkey is a friend of Pakistan. About Turkish investment in Pakistan, he said many Turkish companies were operating in Pakistan. “But as for the bilateral trade volume is concerned, it is less than $1 billion but I hope that by the end of this month, a free trade agreement will be finalised between the two countries after which the trade volume will be enhanced.” About Fethullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO), he said, Pakistani officials were looking at the issue. Referring to the Kashmir issue, he said Indian government was imposing barbaric rule against the will of the Kashmiris. He said India freedom fight in Kashmir would not come to an end unless Indian government recognises their right to self-determination. To a question, he said, “Pakistan does not want any kind of tension on its borders. Pakistan wants to solve problems between India and Pakistan on the basis of justice and fair play. Pakistan wants to solve the issues through dialogue.” He said the UN should convey a very strong message to India to respect international treaties and commitments. “We are very clear that war is not an option,” he said, adding that Pakistan had learned a great deal from the past. We will welcome Turkey’s role in producing a conducive environment for dialogue between Pakistan and India, he added.
