LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is moving towards progress and prosperity but some political elements are trying to create hurdles in this process for the achievement of their personal agendas. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government has saved billions of rupees of the nation by maintaining transparency and a high standard in the implementation of development projects, adding that the government is committed to accountability, honesty, saving and transparency. He said that political opponents of the government are trying to stop the process of national development, however, politically conscious people of Pakistan would foil every conspiracy of such elements. He expressed these views while talking to the elected representatives who met him on Wednesday. The chief minister said that the government has saved public money of billions of rupees by negotiating with the lowest bidders for various projects. He said that there is no other example of such a benefit to national economy in the history of the country. “Funds are a trust of the nation and are being spent only on public welfare projects. Billions of rupees are being utilised on speedy development of the province and welfare projects for the masses while transparency, high quality and timely completion of uplift projects is being ensured, as it is a hallmark of the Punjab government,” he added. The CM said that service to the people is the pivot of politics of PML-N and it is committed to provision of relief to the masses. He said those creating anarchy in the country are the enemies of the nation and these are the same elements which caused a huge loss to the national economy through politics of sit-ins. He said that people know who is serving them selflessly and who is engaged in negative politics. Those who met the chief minister included Members National and Provincial Assemblies Syed Javed Ali Shah, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Mehr Muhammad Fayyaz and Lt Col (r) Shujaat Ahmad Khan. MPA Mansha Allah Butt was also present on the occasion.
