LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister has said that search and combing operations being conducted across Punjab are not against any particular group or party but only against terrorists and their abettors. Talking to a delegation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) led by Adviser to Prime Minister Ameer Muqam here on Tuesday, the chief minister said: “Terrorists have neither any religion nor geographical identity… they are only terrorists. Search and combing operations being conducted are not against any nation rather their target is terrorists and their facilitators. Pashtun living in Punjab are our brothers and sisters and very close to us and their security is as dearer to us as our own.” He said that no one would be allowed to fan sectarianism for the sake of politics. Shahbaz Sharif said that anything aimed at harming Pakistan would be strictly reprimanded. “Elimination of terrorists is a mission of the people of KP, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab,” he said, adding that those indulging in baseless propaganda were doing no service to Pakistan rather committing enmity to the country. He said that baseless propaganda should be avoided. “Pakistan is our home and we are very close to each other. People residing in the four provinces are great Pakistanis, who always pray for solidarity, progress and prosperity of the nation and the country. He said that beautiful amalgamation of KP, Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan is the foundation of a beautiful Pakistan and hearts of its people beat together.” He said that all provinces of Pakistan have had rendered unprecedented sacrifices against menace of terrorism. “Pakistani people are determined to stand again with more passion to curb the scourge of terrorism and extremism with coordinated efforts as such coward acts cant shatter our determination. We have to fight together to nip this evil of corruption in the bud with brotherhood and devotedness avoiding every kind of extremism, ethnicity and racial discrimination.” He assured the delegation that search and combing operations would be carried out against terrorists only without any racial discrimination. “We have always promoted brotherhood, harmony and unity and we have to fight against terrorism jointly,” he emphasised. Rangers were called in Punjab to root out terrorism, he said, adding: “It is our collective responsibility to inform police about any suspicious person.” The chief minister announced to constitute a joint committee for redressing genuine complaints of KP brethren, which would take steps for resolving the complaints. He reiterated that cooperation of the entire nation was needed to foil the nefarious designs of brutal enemies. Speaking on the occasion, Adviser to Prime Minister Engineer Amir Muqam said that terrorists were enemies of the entire nation and assured the Punjab government of their support in this regard. Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, inspector general police, home secretary and information secretary were also present on the occasion.
