LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is engaged in preparing for a rally which is scheduled to commence on May 1 at Mall Road, Lahore. Despite being warned various times of potential security threats by the federal government, PTI has still given a go ahead to its party members for preparation. The PTI leadership along with police officials on Saturday visited Chairing Cross area in order to inspect it for security clearance. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf refused to give security clearance to the PTI leadership. “We have warned PTI of possible security risks at the area. If they still hold the rally the police force will have no choice but to guard the event,” he said. While speaking to the media, PTI leader Shoaib Siddiqui said that the city government did not grant them permission to hold the rally. “We have not received permission to hold the rally but we will still go ahead with it. We will also place containers to set up a stage,” he said.
