KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) announced on Sunday, after its Dubai meeting, that the new provincial cabinet, after being reshuffled, will approve the Rangers’ stay. The meeting was summoned to reduce the growing rift between the Sindh government and the Rangers. It also decided that Murad Ali Shah will replace Qaim Ali Shah as the Sindh chief minister. The PPP spokesperson confirmed that the chief minister’s replacement decision will be implemented once PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari returns to Pakistan. It has also been decided that Sohail Anwar Sayal, Agha Siraj Dunnai and Jam Khan Shoro are to be replaced, while Siraj Durrani and Shehla Raza are to be included in the new cabinet. It has been reported that Sindh’s new cabinet will approve the stay of Rangers in the province with special policing powers. Previously, the issue of Rangers’ special policing powers created a rift between the paramilitary force and the provincial government.
