ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif while lauding the services of renowned social worker, philanthropist and a patriot, Abdul Sattar Edhi, on Friday called for united prayers for his health. According to details, Edhi, currently admitted at SIUT, has been shifted on a ventilator. Faisal Edhi (his son) and Bilqees Edhi (his wife) said in a press conference on Friday that a kidney transplant wasn’t possible due to the high age factor. “He (Edhi) is, and always will be, a patriot and a philanthropist worthy of every ounce of praise given to him. May we be united in our prayers for him and his health and his family,” the PM said in a statement issued. “There are few men who have done as much good and made as much a difference to the lives and livelihoods of the Pakistani people as Abdul Sattar Edhi. His tireless work has helped save hundreds of thousands of lives and shown us what it means to be a man who works for the people,” Nawaz said. The PM said, despite all his success, Edhi has always stayed humble, living a simple life in a small house barely large enough to encapsulate his enormous heart. “Edhi sahib is now 92 years of age and the doctors have told us that a kidney transplant would not be feasible at this age. We request Pakistanis to prayers for him,” said Faisal Edhi. “In his most difficult hour, may God bestow upon him all the fortune that he bestowed upon the people of this country and treat him with the care that a man of his stature deserves,” he added.
