Sir: Nowadays, the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) has once again become talk of the town with the Lahore High Court ordering the suspension of the construction of the multi-billion dollar project. Considering it as its right, the Punjab government has decided to file an appeal against the court verdict in the Supreme Court to ensure timely completion of the project. To most, OLMT will be a major turnaround in the fortune of the city. To the rest, it is just wastage of time and money. However, with almost 50 percent of the civil works having been completed, OLMT is no more a dream as it is fast becoming a reality. It is pertinent to mention here that the project will certainly benefit a large number of commuters as it has the capacity to transport more than 250,000 passengers on a daily basis. The project will not only transform the public transportation system, but it will also help in resolving traffic woes that are being faced by the citizens of the city. With the population of the city increasing at a rapid pace, the availability of quality public transportation is need of the hour. Hence, unnecessary criticism should be stopped as the OLMT will be a stepping stone that will transform the transportation system of Pakistan. SHEHAR BANO SYED Lahore
