Sir: Facing challenges resulting from the outbreak of the polio virus all over Pakistan, the government yet again failed to confront the virus in a timely fashion. More cases have been reported in four major districts of Balochistan. In 2014, 164 cases were reported from across Pakistan. Government failed in mounting an adequate response and formulating a long-term policy. Moreover, polio workers are not being paid well and security threats to workers and international organisations have not been addressed. A few months ago the World Health Organisation imposed travel restrictions on Pakistani citizens because of the polio epidemic. Thus, Pakistan needs to concentrate on eliminating the polio virus and work towards becoming a polio-free country. Nothing is more important than working towards rehabilitating Pakistan’s image in the comity of nations. KHUSHBOO AHMAD Via Email
