Sir: Recently it was decided that a software programme is being developed to register smart phones along with subscriber identity module (SIM) so that whenever a complaint is received about its loss or theft, the phone gets blocked. It looks that Sindh Police has once again decided not to do any serious effort in this regard. Instead of catching mobile snatchers, police are doing those things which are second step. Sindh Police and CPLC should know that smart phones can’t easily get locked and many mobile snatchers sell their screen which cost around 10,000-15,000 (screen of mobile phone worth more than Rs 35,000). Please don’t do second step when you can’t do first step i.e. catching culprits of mobilephone snatchers. MUBASHIR MAHMOOD Karachi
