PESHAWAR: Elders of Musal Khel from Mohmand Agency have demanded of Chief of Army Staff (COAS). President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to retrieve hills of nephrite minerals, grabbed illegally by Siraj Khan in connivance with Political Administration (PA) and Mines and Mineral Department. Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Saturday, Assist Prof Siyar Khan alleged that the concerned department had allowed the contractor for lease for 70 yards but he (Siraj) occupied on 300 acres minerals, it is completely injustice with the tribe, whose income depends on such nephrite minerals in the areas. “We have already contacted the minerals department for retrieval of grabbed area for the concerned tribe but nothing it did yet, then a Jirga was held headed by Malik Izzat Khan in 20/06/2016, in which, the contractor (Siraj) had been made bound to confine to his area and the rest be handed to Ajeer Khan”, he added. The Ajeer Khan had signed new agreement with Haji Tehmash Khan on behalf of his tribe Musal Khel but the contractor is still grabbed the nephrite mineral area illegally, he said, adding that the contractor of greasing the palm of the political administration of the agency and officers of mine and mineral deptt. All these people are pressurizing the elders to withdraw their demand, otherwise, they all would have to face dire consequences, he maintained. “We over 300 tribal people requested the contractor to leave illegal area, meanwhile fire opened and some people sustained injuries but the PA instead returning the area arrested the elders and put them behind bars”, he said, adding that they staged a protest demonstration, at which the PA using Frontier Crime Regulatory (FCR) made a fine Rs 20 million on Ajeer Khan, five sheep and others if they did not withdraw its demand. The assist prof along with other elders, therefore, demanded for taking stern action against the PA Mohmand agency for using black FCR for his vested interest and favor illegal exploration of minerals and exploit rights of the downtrodden, failing which all responsibility would be rested with the PA and mine and mineral deptt.
