PESHAWAR: Music, bands and dances performed and grand colorful fireworks let off as the three-day Mega Cultural & Food Festival concluded. A large number of people, including men, women, families and students visited stalls at the historic Town Hall in Dera Ismail Khan and enjoyed the festival on the last day. There was a great rush of people at the stalls offering different cultural and traditional items including folk music, dances and dresses. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Revenue Ali Amin Gandapur also attended the concluding ceremony. Famous artistes and singers, including Attaullah Esakhelvi, Sara Raza Khan, Humayun Khan, Zeek Afridi, Laila Khan, Ahmed Nawaz Sheena, Shahid Malang, Bakhtiar Khattak and others performed in the evening musical show. Attaullah Esakhelvi received thunderous applause from the audience when he started singing ‘kamiz teri kali hain’.Women and children participated in the cooking and face painting competitions. Later the position holders were given Rs 5,000/-, Rs 10,000/- and Rs 15,000/- respectively. The children and families also enjoyed swinging and the horse dance at the play land. Organized by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), the three-day Cultural & Food Festival was aimed at highlighting and promoting the culture and traditions of the province and providing recreational opportunities to the families at a local level. Visitors evinced keen interest in the stalls established for displaying different products including dresses, handicrafts, embroidery, ‘taghar’ work, Bannu Royal Khaadi, stone carving, Peshawari caps, wax painting, metal work, wood carving, artwork, calligraphy, ring making, sitar making, Chitrali Patti, Gandhara Art, Drooza chappal, Sarghashay, Charsadda chappal, maizaray work, Karawa work, Sarkha, Dandas, Parunay, pottery work, blacksmith work, Hazara Jisti Shawl and Moti work. Many people, families and students were seen visiting dampukh, Chitrali foods, chapal kabab, biryani, saag, maize bread and lassi, Bannu painda, Balochi sajji, barbeque, Nowshera fish, tikka boti, famous Hazara pakora and Rajjar sweets stalls. They enjoyed the traditional cuisines and delicacies. Local artistes and singers mesmerized the audience with traditional music and dances. The visitors enjoyed the traditional Jhumar, Khattak, Mehsud, Attan, Chitrali, Gatka, Attan Ball, and Bangash dances at evening. The mega festival concluded with music, bands and dances performances and a grand colourful fireworks display. The visitors hailed the TCKP for arranging mega cultural and food festival for the first time to highlight and promote the local culture and foods in Dera Ismail Khan.
