HARIPUR: Two persons were shot dead when rivals opened fire on them over a land dispute in the limits of Beer Police Station on the first day of Eid. Police officials said that Malik Iftikhar, president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Tarbela union council, was on way home along with his friend when armed assailants identified as Naeem Anwar and his three brothers allegedly opened on them in Kripliyan village. As a result, Malik Iftikhar, resident of Khalabat Township and Ali Asghar, resident of Kripliyan, died on the spot. Motive behind the double murder is said to be a property dispute between the parties. Police have registered the case.
