DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The five-day training workshop for the teachers of state-run schools and lecturers of Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan concluded here on Saturday. Pro-Vice-chancellor Gomal University Dr Bakhtiyar Khattak was the chief guest. Dr Allah Noor, Miss Shaila Sheikh and Dr Asif Jamil Khan were also present. The Institute of Education and Research of Gomal University in collaboration with the Learning Innovation Division of Higher Education Commission (HEC) had organised the event. Speaking on the occasion Professor Dr Bakhtiyar Khattak said that training workshops played an important role in the capacity building of teachers. He said that the university would organised such training sessions for teachers in future as well. Meanwhile, Vice-chancellor Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan Dr Muhammad Sarwar directed the heads of various departments to recommend projects so the varsity could send these recommendations for approval to the federal government. He issued the directives while chairing a high level meeting here. Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Bakhtiyar Khattak, Dean Agriculture Faculty Professor Dr Ijaz Ahmad, Dean of Sciences Professor Dr Noor Abbas Din Khattak, Registrar Nadeem Saeed and other administration officials and teaching staff members attended the meeting. Director Planning and Development Dr Naimatullah Babar briefed the participants about projects of worth Rs2 billion. The vice-chancellors issued various directives to the participants to improve standard of education and to overcome the issue of financial deficit facing by the university. The vice-chancellor formed a committee to prepare and present its recommendation for solution of various problems being faced by the varsity. He also commended the services of the retiring head of Department of Journalism Professor Dr Aslam Pervez.
