ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Auangzeb said on Thursday that the government was working for the revival of indigenous narrative of the country, which had faded due to terrorism and extremism. She was co-chairing national dialogue on ‘Culture of Tolerance: Reviving the Indigenous Narrative’. Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah was also present. Parliamentarians, representatives from media and civil society deliberated upon ways to revive the national narrative of peace, tolerance and harmony. The minister appreciated the role and sacrifices of the political parties and workers for strengthening the political culture in the country. She expressed the confidence that revival of the film industry would also contribute towards tackling the menace of extremism and terrorism. Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khusheed Shah said: “The people of country need to develop positive attitude to defeat the thought of extremism and racism. Media has to play a proactive role as the fourth pillar of the state in promotion of tolerance.”
