Hosting a baby shower can be loads of fun. With the right amount of planning, you can throw a lovely baby shower for your friend/sister/colleague in the comfort of her own home. Here’s how you can go about it.
The guest list! – The very first thing you need to do is to create a guest list. Find out stealthily, who are the people the mother-to-be would like to be present at the party. This will also give you an idea about the approximate budget of the party and how much food will be required.
The theme – choose a baby shower theme. Themes can be as simple as blue or pink or even something that the mommy-to-be is a fan of.
Choose your date carefully – make sure you choose a date four to six weeks before the due date. Ask guests beforehand if they can make it and, more importantly, whether the mother-to-be is free on that date.
Delegate tasks – keep someone in charge of plates, napkins, glasses, utensils, ice, etc. Ask someone to pick up flowers, balloons, decorations, cameras and the cake on the day of the party.

Plan the meals – you need to decide whether you want to serve just appetizers or a whole meal to the guests. You can either have everything made at home or order in, or have a combination of both.
Prepare the baby shower basket! – You could also make a baby shower basket. Gifts could include items for the baby once it is born as well as things for the mother-to-be. Some useful gifts include bibs, rompers, booties, caps, feeding bottles, blankets, photoframes, baby books, nappies, bouncy seat, carrier, play mat, face towels, shampoo, oil, powder and soap for the baby, etc.
