Nawaz upset over PPP bashing by Ch Nisar

Published on: August 16, 2016 7:00 PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed his younger brother and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to stop Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan from taking an overly confrontational tone with the PPP, because the interior minister refused to spare the PPP’s main leaders even on the prime minister’s personal request, according to sources.

The prime minister was not happy with the press conference of Chaudhry Nisar some days ago at Punjab House where he targeted two main leaders of the PPP, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan and Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah. After a meeting at Pm House, Sharif asked the interior minister not to give statements that would damage the internal reconciliation policy with the Pakistan Peoples Party, sources disclosed.

But Chaudhry Nisar made it clear that if someone from PPP attacked him or his ministry he would respond in a strong way and not remain silent. Law and order was the primary subject of his ministry and Chaudry Nisar said he was very proud of his record on the matter.

On this, the prime minister contacted the chief minister, reportedly a close friend of Chaudry Nisar and directed him to convince the interior minister not to go on the offensive against the PPP. Sources were of the view that Chaudhry Nisar did not make any commitment with Shahbaz Sharif, reiterating that if he was attacked, he would fight back.

The Intetior minister came to Parliament House on Monday and Tuesday with full preparation. He was some important files with him but opposition leader Khursheed Shah did not speak so he was quiet. The Interior Minister was not happy with some of their colleagues who were supporting the opposition, especially Minister For Water and Power Khawaja Asif, sources concluded. On the other hand opposition leader khursheed shah recorded his strong protest in a meeting with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday.
