ISLAMABAD: The India’s Border Security Force (BSF) resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling at the Working Boundary in Shakargarh sector, north of Chak Amroo village on Friday.
The military’s media wing – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) – said, “The Pakistan Punjab Rangers befittingly responded to Indian firing which continued from 0900 to 0930 hours.” No loss of life or property was reported, it added. In another incident, Pakistani troops befittingly responded to unprovoked firing by Indian troops at the Line of Control (LoC) in Kerala sector on Friday, ISPR said. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army made a hot line contact with the Indian army and staged a strong protest over unprovoked firing and shelling at the LoC. Defence sources told Daily Times that the Pakistan Army informed the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) about continue ceasefire violations by Indian forces. Earlier, Pakistan had registered a protest with the UNMOGIP after Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC) killed one civilian and injured five others.
