ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday urged his archrival PTI chairman to wait for the Supreme Court’s decision on Panama leaks.
Sources told Daily Times that the government has decided to obey the court orders regarding Islamabad lockdown. They added that security measures would be taken in this regard.
They claimed that in a few days the government could take important decisions, including new appointments in the Pakistan Army.
Nawaz chaired a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House and discussed the current political situation and new corruption allegations leveled by Kaptaan, sources said.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Abdul Qadir Baloch, Zahid Hamid, Saad Rafiq and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The PML-N legal team briefed the participants about the Islamabad High Court’s decision and its implementation, sources added.
Nawaz deplored that the PTI leadership was not accepting the court decision which would take Pakistan towards anarchy. “We have always upheld the law and constitution. While a leader of a political party is using such language which is not acceptable at all and Pakistanis are watching all this,” he lamented.
It was decided that the government would fulfill its duty to probe the anti-national security news published by Dawn.
Nawaz once again promised that those responsible for the news leak would be taken to task. Sources claimed that some new appointments may be announced anytime soon in the army as the PM was consulting and listening to his close and trustworthy men in this regard.
Sources added that the interior minister briefed the meeting on security measures taken to keep the federal capital open on November 2. He also told the meeting that his ministry and Islamabad administration are fully aware of the situation. “Action will be taken if anyone violated law. We will make sure that people of twin cities move freely. Those who create hurdles will be arrested,” Nisar told the meeting.
Participants were told about the contacts with opposition parties, including the Pakistan People’s Party. It was decided that the government would not only take PPP’s suggestions seriously, but it is also ready to sit with the PPP on TORs issue, sources concluded.
