Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan is a tale of immense tragedy

Published on: July 5, 2019 11:40 PM

Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan has been written by Umera Ahmed. The writer has expressed many times that this is one of her most favourite books as it is a tragedy and moves one to tears.

The story revolves around an orphan girl called Romesa. She has striking beauty and a wonderful nature to match. Romesa lives with her aunt, who is a greedy woman and has already stripped Romesa off her wealth. Her aunt compelled Romesa to do a job if not then she would be taken out from the home. Romesa was compelled and went for a job. When she went for the job she didn’t know anything because she was not well educated. There was a test and prepared for it. It was the test day when she met with a boy named Nabeel. Nabeel belonged to rich family and Romesa went for the job it was the office of Nabeel. When Nabeel saw Romesa he started liking her and he hired her for the job. After some days, Nabeel proposed her for the marriage and it was a big happiness for Romesa that she would be away from her aunt.

Nabeel tells his father about Romesa and he gives his blessings but his mother doesn’t approve. She’s a proud woman and wants her son to marry off with a high-class elite family’s girl. Nabeel tries a lot to convince her and ultimately, succeeds. Eventually, they get married and start living together. Still Nabeel mother didn’t like her because just due to Nabeel she agreed and she ordered her to do works. Romesa respected her and didn’t say anything and didn’t say to Nabeel that his mother was doing like this. Later Romesa and Nabeel went to America for honeymoon. After that they both came again.

Nabeel tells his father about Romesa and he gives his blessings but his mother doesn’t approve. She’s a proud woman and wants her son to marry off with a high-class elite family’s girl. Nabeel tries a lot to convince her and ultimately, succeeds. Eventually, they get married and start living together

After some months, Romesa was pregnant and Nabeel went to America for a project. Nabeel wished that the child should be a female and her name should be Mahan. Unfortunately before the birth of the child Nabeel faced an accident in America and died. It was a big sorrow for Romesa and Nabeel mother took all the things that Nabeel had given her and took her out of the house as well. When Nabeel father was informed he remembered the Nabeel words that if today he died then before burying him they would take Romesa out from the house and same things happened. His father went and brought back Romesa. Nabeel’s father then told Nabeel’s brother to marry with Romesa because she was so weak that she should spend her life in a good way with Mahan. Nabeel’s brother married with her and lived his life with Mahan and Romesa.

The hard-hitting storyline talks about the various challenges a girl faces alone. It also talks about the way the elite class looks down upon the less privileged.
