According to co-producer Sadia Jabbar, the web series is set to depict seven different proposal stories, instead of unwinding a single story throughout the episodes. It shows that the production is up to make sincere efforts in spreading awareness regarding how a girl overcomes the unrealistic expectations of being ‘the perfect one’ in this society. Ever wonder, how the ‘transaction-deal’ is made in an arranged marriage? There is a humungous amount of information available, which sheds light upon what goes on before, during, and after an arranged marriage takes place. These scenarios are usually molded by emotional and irrational elements. Shameless Proposals is a satire that specifically targets this desi rishta process, with no depressing rona-dhona in the end.
Not an emotional ride, but this one looks like a full-fledged family entertainment. The hilarious depiction of some really serious and absurd issues on the rishtabusiness, in Shameless Proposals’ one-minute trailer looks so relatable. This time around, SadiaJabbar is specifically on a ‘Rishta-Monger’ hunt. The web series is claimed to just stick to shameless proposals and their immediate effects on a female, without diving deep into the family drama. How often do we see this? Not often for sure.
Sadia Jabbar, in an interview, spilled the beans saying that the web series also portrays how Pakistani women of today refuse to be succumbed into silence and wish to inquire more meaningful questions. Today’s independent and self sufficient Pakistani woman can be a beacon of light for the rest, and can take a stand against being blindly wedded off to a stranger. ‘Shameless Proposals’ promises to illustrate and tap various aspects of arranged marriage proposals.
