Pride of Pakistan: Sajal Aly

Published on: August 30, 2018 12:41 AM

Sajal Aly’s name is synonymous with acting skills that are par excellence. A girl who keeps low profile and lets her performance do all the taking, can take on any role that comes her way and simply breathe magic into it.

She is noted for playing a variety of characters in a range of serials-from contemporary social to romantic dramas.

Sajal Aly’s first appearance on screen was a minor role in one episode of the 2009 Geo TV’s comedy drama ‘Nadaaniyaan’. She received praise for her breakout role in the 2011 ARY Digital’s family drama ‘Mehmoodabad Ki Malkain’.

Subsequently, she rose to prominence for portraying leading roles in several of the successful television series, including the comedy ‘Mohabbat Jaye Bhar Mein’, the romances ‘Sitamgar’ and ‘Meri Ladli’, the family comedy ‘Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah’ (which by the way was a national hit) and the drama ‘Gul-e-Rana’.

Some of the most noteworthy awards that Aly has won include Hum Awards, Lux Style Awards, Pakistan Media Awards, Galaxy Lollywood Awards and Nigar Awards

Her performance in the teen drama ‘Nanhi’, the psychological ‘Sannata’, the revenge drama ‘Chup Raho’ and the spiritual romance ‘Khuda Dekh Raha Hai’, earned her widespread recognition as well as the Lux Style Award for Best Actress nominations.

Aly garnered critical acclaim for portraying a troubled child in the telefilm ‘Behadd’ and an aspiring actress in the relationship drama ‘Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai’, her first feature film.

Aly made her Bollywood film debut starring opposite Sridevi in the 2017 Bollywood film ‘Mom’.

Aly also sang the theme song for the series ‘O Rangreza’, in which she plays the character Sassi. The actress sang a rendition for her show ‘O Rangreza’ which also features rising star Bilal Abbas Khan, and to be honest, it’s surpassed our expectations.

The Gul-e-Rana star surprised us with her melodious vocals and we’re hoping she delves further into singing. The acoustic rendition of the song is soulful and would most certainly make you a fan.

The young actress maintained laudable calm and composure when her mother passed away last year due to cancer. After taking a brief hiatus from acting, she jumped back, stronger than ever and won awards and laurels for her work.

Some of the most noteworthy awards that Aly has won include Hum Awards, Lux Style Awards, Pakistan Media Awards, Galaxy Lollywood Awards and Nigar Awards.

Not only has her craft won appreciation in Pakistan but India too has become a fan.

“For the past couple of years, I have been stressing more about me being relatable to the characters I play on screen,” Aly said, while talking to Something Haute.

“As an independent individual I have a certain set of principles that I follow in my life, taught to me by my beloved mother and the environment we live in; I tend to look for those principles in a script.”

Aly was nominated for Best Actress, twice in the same category at the Lux Style Awards 2018. Her period play Aangan was one of the most anticipated dramas of the year, and when the news of her signing Alif broke, fans just couldn’t stop celebrating the announcement.

Sharing her excitement and expectations regarding the project she added that she hopes her hard work gains acceptance once again.

“I am looking forward to a great learning curve yet again on my part as a curious actress and I wish my friends and fans acknowledge the efforts I shall put in.”

She has also been declared the doppelgänger of reigning Bollywood queen Kareena Kapoor-Khan.

Advertisements are an important part of any actor’s life. The more success they get, the more campaigns come their way. Many leading multinationals have roped Aly in to be their brand ambassador such as Nescafe, Supreme Tea and Cadbury Perk.
