UPPER DIR: Women casting vote for the first time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district, as polls began across the country on July 25, Wednesday.
Sources reported that queues of women could be seen in NA-5 and PK-12 constituencies and the district is witnessing the sight for the first time in Pakistani history.
Previously, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had stated that if any area where women would face hindrance or stopped from casting vote, the results of that constituency would be declared invalid.
Moreover, the election results would also be declared invalid if the women’s participation in a constituency appeared lower than 10 percent.
Any person found involved in stopping women from casting vote would be sentenced to three-year imprisonment.
