Children seek release of their father from ‘captivity’

Published on: May 8, 2018 2:35 AM

KHYBER AGENCY: The children made a desperate plea to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa for the release of their father, who was detained by the security agencies over his alleged involvement in anti-state activities more than three months ago.

While talking to the media, 16-year-old Shah Wali and 14-year-old Shah Saud said that their disabled father, Shaukat Hussain was taken into custody on Jan 15 by the law enforcement agencies from the Bypass Road of Landi Kotal, a town in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan.

They stated that they lodged First Information Report (FIR) at the office of Landi Kotal assistant political agent, but to no avail.

Shah Wali claimed that his father was not involved in anti-state activities.

Following the incident, they said that they stopped going to school as they could not afford educational expenses without their father.

The two brothers threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike outside the Peshawar Press Club if the agencies reject to release their father from captivity. They also appealed Peshawar Corps Commander to take notice of the matter.
