Top 5 unforgettable moments from West Indies’ tour to Karachi

Published on: April 4, 2018 9:48 PM

Days after a successful PSL final in the city of lights, international cricket re-emerges in Karachi after a span of 9 years.

The long hours of waiting in the stadium and multiple security checks did not fade the passion and enthusiasm of the crowd. On the very last day of the three-day cricket series, Karachi successfully delivered the gargantuan task from security to crowd management after a decade.

It is obvious that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has spent a lot of time overviewing the arrangements and refurbishing the storied stadium, and more so, it has also restored the confidence of pulling off the event smoothly.

Here are the top five memorable moments from West Indies and Pakistan match series in Karachi.

Karachi Stadium filled with the echoes of National Anthem

Karachi did not disappoint when the sound system in the stadium failed. In a goosebumps inducing moment, the entire stadium stood up chanting the national anthem on top of their lungs in sync, capturing the mood and spirit of welcoming cricket back in the country. The technical glitch became one of the historic moments of cricket in Pakistan.

Dil Dil Pakistan made a comeback

The National Stadium in Karachi seems to have become a place where patriotism and passion have come together to be reborn. Another heart melting scene was to hear late Junaid Jamshed’s iconic Dil Dil Pakistan making a comeback in Karachi stadium with hordes of audiences in all enclosures singing the song.

Find the ‘B’

After the integrations of sponsors and brands in PSL, we have also seen a lot of brand activations in this recent series as well. On entry points, audiences who came to watch the match got a chance to record how they were feeling about attending an international series in Pakistan against Pak and Windies player cutouts to show their excitement for the match.

On ground, audiences were also given a chance to win free room makeovers through Brighto Paints in “Find the B’ Campaign which sent home many happy winners all set and ready to get full luxury paint makeovers.

Shadab Khan in hot waters for abusing Walton

Shadab Khan’s incident happened in the ninth over of the Windies’ innings when he, after dismissing Chadwick Walton, pointed his finger at the departing batsmen and also made an inappropriate comment. Though the commentators laughed it out but he was fined for his inappropriate behaviour.

Spectators giving out message to the world through Placards

This time we have seen the audience carrying placards to express their feelings and emotions about cricket coming back to the Karachi grounds. What caught our attention was the message displayed at the cards. One of the placards stated, ‘We are Muslims and we are not terrorists’ which gave a clear message to the world that Pakistan is a safe and peaceful country.
