Imran Ali moves High Court against decision in Zainab murder case

Published on: February 20, 2018 1:45 PM

LAHORE: Imran Ali, the convict in Zainab murder case, has on Tuesday moved Lahore High Court (LHC) against the decision by Anti-Terror Court (ATC) that had declared him the offender and sentenced him to death by hanging 4 times along with fine and imprisonment, reported Daily Times.

According to details, Imran Ali has maintained in his appeal to LHC that the decision by ATC had been handed out in haste and legal requirements had not been fulfilled during the trial. He prayed that the decision against him should be overturned.

ATC had declared him the offender in Zainab murder case last week upon DNA evidence. He had been sentenced to death by hanging four times, life imprisonment, 7-year imprisonment and a collective fine of Rs 3.2 million.

The verdict will be announced by ATC judge Sajjad Ahmad in jail premises. Amin Ansari, the 7-year-old victim’s father, has arrived at jail for the verdict.

On January 9, dead body of a 7-year-old minor was found in a garbage dump days after the girl had been abducted.
