Saira murder case: Son sent on judicial remand

Published on: December 29, 2017 9:32 PM

LAHORE: The son of late Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) leader Saira Naseer, along with his wife,  has been sent to jail on eight-day judicial remand in connection with his mother’s murder.

Fahad Shah, the son of the late leader,  had confessed that he killed his mother and set her body ablaze.

Fahad and his wife Sadaf were presented before a civil judge’s court today where Fahad accused police of torturing him for obtaining the confessional statement.

The court ordered to take a medical examination of the accused and sent him to jail on the judicial remand.

Son confesses to killing mother

On December 7, police found the charred remains of Saira who was in her burnt car.

Police arrested her son and daughter-in-law in connection with the murder.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hyderabad Pir Mohammad Shah told the media that Fawad was used to engage in brawling with his mother.

A heated argument took place between Saira and her son on the night she was killed.

“The mother and son argued at 11 PM, after which Fahad went to the kitchen and brought an iron rod and hit his mother on the head with it,” SPP Shah said.

He added that Fawad did not originally intend to kill his mother but it was more like he acted upon impulse.

“After Saira breathed last, he [her son] took her body to her car and set it alight,” said the SSP.

He said police detained Fawad after finding “incriminating evidence” against him.

SSP Shah further said that the case was challenging as police had to interrogate hundreds of people to get the truth out.
