Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the “Shanghai Spirit” and to advancing cooperation, connectivity, and shared growth among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
Addressing the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, the deputy prime minister thanked the Kyrgyz leadership and Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev for their warm hospitality and excellent arrangements in hosting the SCO CFM.
FM extended felicitations on the SCO’s 25th anniversary and highlighted the Organization’s important work for regional peace, security, prosperity, and sustainable development.
He highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for regional peace, including the Islamabad Talks and the subsequent Islamabad MoU, which reflected Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy.
He also thanked his counterparts for their recognition and appreciation of Pakistan’s sincere efforts to promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
FM conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to assume the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) in September 2026 and welcomed all SCO Member States to Pakistan for the CHS Summit in 2027.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with the foreign ministers of the SCO member states on Friday called on President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov at his state residence here.
Conveying the warm greetings of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the deputy prime minister thanked President Zhaparov for the gracious hospitality extended during the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held here.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar underscored the importance of continued collaboration among SCO Member States as Pakistan prepares to assume the SCO Chairmanship for 2026-27. The interaction covered regional and global developments, as well as the evolving role of the SCO as an important platform for cooperation.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday joined the regional leaders as they gathered here to participate in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting being held here.
As Deputy Prime Minister Dar arrived at the venue, he was warmly welcomed by Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev, which was followed a handshake between the two leaders. He joined fellow foreign ministers of the SCO Member States for the traditional family photograph ahead of the moot.
On Thursday, he attended the informal dinner of the SCO foreign ministers, where they exchanged views and discussed the agenda of the meeting.
At the invitation of the Kyrgyz foreign minister, the deputy prime minister is leading the Pakistan delegation to the meeting being attended by the foreign ministers of all SCO member states, including Pakistan, China, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The CFM is the third-highest forum in the SCO format, which focuses on the issues of international relations, as well as the foreign and security policies of the SCO.
