The federal government has approved the immediate import of one million tonnes of wheat. The decision aims to meet provincial demand and maintain stability in the domestic wheat market.
According to the Ministry of National Food Security, PASCO’s available wheat stocks are insufficient to meet the combined requirements of all provinces. Therefore, the government decided to begin wheat imports without delay.

The ministry said PASCO’s existing wheat reserves would continue to be distributed among provinces according to their requirements. Additionally, imported wheat will help ensure adequate supplies across the country.
