Global K-pop sensation BTS has opened up about the emotional experience of reuniting after nearly three years apart, describing their return as a heartfelt “family reunion” following the completion of their mandatory military service.

Speaking during an appearance on Capital Breakfast on Thursday, the seven-member group reflected on the challenges they faced while serving separately and how their shared experiences strengthened their bond.
Jimin, the first member to enlist in 2022, said reuniting with the group in 2025 was an emotional milestone. He described the moment as feeling like a family reunion after spending years apart from the people who best understood him.
Several members also spoke candidly about the emotional difficulties of military life. V admitted he often felt lonely because he lacked people who could truly relate to his experiences. Although peer counsellors were available in the military, he said he found it difficult to open up about his personal concerns.
SUGA shared similar feelings, saying there were few people he felt comfortable talking to during his service. Their comments offered fans a rare glimpse into the personal challenges the group faced while fulfilling South Korea’s mandatory military obligations.
The members enlisted at different times, allowing BTS to remain connected with fans through solo music projects and individual activities before officially reuniting as a complete group last year.
Following their comeback, BTS returned to the recording studio and released ARIRANG, which topped the Billboard 200 chart for three consecutive weeks, marking another major achievement in the group’s career. They later launched a global tour that has attracted fans around the world.
Earlier this month, BTS also performed during the FIFA World Cup Final halftime show at MetLife Stadium alongside international stars including Shakira, Madonna and Justin Bieber, further highlighting the group’s successful return to the global stage after completing military service.
