
Comic-Con International has officially opened in San Diego, bringing together thousands of fans, filmmakers, actors, and creators for one of the world’s biggest pop culture events. Running through July 26, this year’s convention features major announcements, exclusive previews, and special celebrations, with Marvel Studios making its highly anticipated return after skipping last year’s event.

Marvel will take the spotlight at the famous Hall H on Saturday by showcasing Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to release in December. Directed by the Russo brothers, the film will unite characters from the Avengers, X-Men, Black Panther, and Fantastic Four franchises in a major crossover. As a result, fans are eagerly waiting for fresh footage and new details about one of Marvel’s biggest upcoming productions.
DC Studios will also make a strong impression by presenting its new HBO series Lanterns, starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. Meanwhile, acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his Oscar-winning film Pan’s Labyrinth, while Star Trek will mark 60 years of the iconic franchise with cast appearances and special anniversary events for longtime fans.

Beyond the superhero franchises, the convention offers a packed schedule of previews and panel discussions featuring upcoming television shows and films. Apple TV is expected to unveil new footage from Mayday and Matchbox: The Movie, while audiences will also get an early look at Spaceballs: The New One, the long-awaited sequel to Mel Brooks’ classic comedy. Additionally, the Lucas Museum will present updates on its future exhibitions ahead of its opening.
