Apple’s rumoured iPhone Air 2 could bring significant upgrades to its ultra-slim smartphone lineup, with new leaks suggesting improvements to the camera system, battery life and cooling technology.

According to recent media reports, Apple is working to address some of the biggest criticisms of the first-generation iPhone Air. While the original model was praised for its exceptionally slim design, users expressed concerns over its single rear camera and relatively modest battery capacity.
The latest reports suggest the iPhone Air 2 may feature a dual rear camera setup for the first time in the Air series. The device is expected to include a primary camera alongside an ultra-wide lens, offering users greater flexibility for photography and improved imaging capabilities.
Battery performance is also expected to receive a notable boost. Supply chain sources claim the upcoming model could be equipped with a battery of around 3,500mAh, compared with the 3,149mAh battery found in the current version. The increase of more than 10 per cent, combined with the power efficiency of Apple’s rumoured A20 Pro processor, could deliver longer battery life.
Another reported enhancement is the possible addition of Apple’s vapor chamber cooling system, a feature currently used in some of the company’s Pro models. The improved cooling technology is expected to help maintain peak performance during demanding tasks while reducing the risk of overheating.
Earlier reports indicated that Apple planned to unveil the iPhone Air 2 in September 2026. However, more recent leaks suggest the launch has been delayed until 2027, when the device could debut alongside the anticipated iPhone 18 lineup.
Apple has not officially confirmed the existence, specifications or launch timeline of the iPhone Air 2. As a result, all reported features and release plans remain based on industry leaks, supply chain information and unofficial sources.
