Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has filed a petition to legally remove Brad Pitt’s surname, becoming the latest child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to seek a name change. Court records filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court show the 18-year-old wants to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The filing lists the reason for the request simply as “personal,” with a court hearing scheduled for November 2.

The legal filing follows signs that Vivienne had already begun using the shortened name in public. Last year, she was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production The Outsiders, where she worked alongside her mother, Angelina Jolie. The latest court action now aims to make that change official through legal channels.
Meanwhile, Vivienne is not the first of the former couple’s six children to distance herself from Brad Pitt’s surname. Shiloh legally removed “Pitt” from her name in 2024, while Zahara and Maddox are also pursuing similar legal name changes. The growing number of requests has continued to draw public attention to the family’s evolving personal decisions.

The latest development comes years after Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated in 2016. Although the former couple finalized their divorce in late 2024, they remain involved in an ongoing legal dispute over Château Miraval, the French winery they once jointly owned. Their long-running legal disagreements have continued even after the end of their marriage.
Despite continued attention surrounding the family’s legal matters, Angelina Jolie has consistently said she wants her children to develop their own identities. She has previously spoken about supporting each child’s unique personality and encouraging them to discover who they are through their own experiences. Vivienne’s legal filing now marks another significant chapter in the family’s ongoing story.
