India’s obstinacy continues as its men’s volleyball team has withdrawn from the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship in Islamabad despite visa clearance and security assurances. The championship begins today, with hosts Pakistan facing Sri Lanka in their opening match. Speaking at the trophy unveiling ceremony in Islamabad, Pakistan Volleyball Federation Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob said all arrangements for the event had been completed. He expressed surprise over India’s last-minute withdrawal, saying the government had provided full security assurances and made comprehensive arrangements for the Indian team’s safety. He said Pakistan had established itself as a successful and safe host for international sporting events. Six teams Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan are participating in the championship. Three matches will be played on the opening day, with Pakistan taking on Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan facing Nepal, and Uzbekistan meeting Bangladesh.
