Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik met Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company Vice President Tariq Ibrahim on Tuesday to discuss expanding energy cooperation. The meeting focused on strengthening investment and collaboration in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector.
According to state broadcaster PTV, both sides reviewed opportunities to deepen cooperation between Pakistan and KUFPEC. The discussions particularly centered on investment in the country’s energy industry.

Malik described Kuwait as a close partner and said the two countries share a 50-year relationship in the energy sector. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to further expanding long-standing bilateral energy cooperation.
Meanwhile, Tariq Ibrahim said KUFPEC is exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan’s upstream oil and gas sector. He highlighted the company’s interest in strengthening its presence in the country’s energy market.

Additionally, the petroleum minister assured the company of full government support for potential investments. He said Pakistan remains committed to providing a favorable business environment for international energy investors.

The meeting comes as Pakistan faces renewed pressure on its fuel supply chain due to policy delays, low fuel stocks, and rising global oil prices. Industry officials have also cited disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz as a growing concern for energy supplies.
Meanwhile, officials continue efforts to attract foreign investment to strengthen Pakistan’s energy security and boost domestic production. The government expects greater international cooperation to support long-term development of the country’s oil and gas sector.
