The School Education Department Punjab has decided to implement CCTV cameras and biometric attendance system in all government schools of the province to make the security and surveillance system more effective.
The School Education Department has issued instructions to all district education authorities to install CCTV cameras and biometric systems in about 38,000 government schools of the province within a month.
According to official sources, the district education authorities had issued instructions to all school heads to install CCTV cameras and biometric attendance system from their non-salary budget. All installation expenses will also be met from the non-salary budget. The School Education Department has clarified that the CCTV cameras installed in schools would effectively monitor the attendance of teachers and overall discipline, while the attendance of teaching staff would be made more transparent through the biometric system.
The department has issued instructions to all District Education Authorities to ensure the implementation of the project within the stipulated time frame and also submit a progress report.
