Bugti contacts Sindh CM over water shortage in Balochistan

Published on: July 18, 2026 7:39 AM

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti held a telephonic conversation with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah to discuss the water situation in Naseerabad Division and inter-provincial irrigation issues. Earlier, PML-N Parliamentary Leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Saleem Khan Khosa, met CM Bugti in Quetta and briefed him on the severe water shortage in Naseerabad canals and the difficulties faced by farmers due to reduced irrigation supplies. According to Adviser to the Chief Minister on Media and Political Affairs Shahid Rind, CM Bugti immediately contacted CM Sindh to deliberate on the matter. Both leaders agreed on joint cooperation and coordinated measures to resolve water issues, ensure fair distribution, and improve the current situation. Shahid Rind further said that both Chief Ministers directed their respective provincial irrigation ministers to urgently reach Sukkur and hold a meeting with relevant officials to review the water situation and work on practical solutions. All assembly members from Naseerabad Division will also participate in the Sukkur meeting, where proposals for addressing water shortages and long-term solutions will be discussed. He added that the Balochistan government is committed to protecting the interests of farmers and landowners and will continue close coordination with the Sindh Government to resolve irrigation issues through consultation and mutual understanding.
