Bahrain says air defences stopped Iranian missile attack

Published on: July 13, 2026 7:41 PM

Bahrain has accused Iran of targeting civilian areas with missiles and drones during its latest attacks, saying its air defence systems successfully intercepted the incoming threats before they caused damage. The government stated that the response prevented potential destruction and helped maintain public safety as tensions across the Gulf continued to rise.

In an official statement, the Bahrain Defence Force claimed Iran continued what it described as an aggressive campaign by launching missiles and drones toward civilian locations. Military officials said air defence units acted quickly to detect, intercept and destroy multiple projectiles before they reached their intended targets. Authorities did not report casualties or significant damage following the operation.

The Bahrain Defence Force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the country’s security and ensuring the safety of its citizens against any future threats. Officials stressed that the military remains fully prepared to respond to further attacks and will continue taking all necessary defensive measures as regional tensions remain high.

Meanwhile, the escalating confrontation has kept international attention focused on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes. Growing instability around the strategic waterway has increased concerns over global oil supplies and rising energy prices, adding pressure to international markets already facing uncertainty from the ongoing conflict.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said the United States would likely take responsibility for securing the Strait of Hormuz and suggested Washington should receive compensation for protecting the vital shipping route. His remarks came as the waterway remained at the centre of the regional crisis, with continued military tensions raising fears of further disruption to global trade and energy supplies.
