Police arrested two dacoits who opened fire on a hotel after being denied extortion money, and also looted a superstore, and six others were arrested after different police encounters in Karachi. The hotel incident took place in the Section 9 area of Karachi. A CCTV of the incident also surfaced on social media, showing two armed men firing. Local trader Mohammad Minhaj Gulfam demanded that the government take all necessary measures for the protection and security of the traders’ community. Karachi Mobile and Electronics Dealer Association President Minhaj Gulfam said that the accused demanded extortion money of Rs100,000 every month through messages on a WhatsApp group. In another incident, the local police arrested five accused during police encounters in Liaquatabad, Chuna Depot, and Iqbal Market area of Karachi. One dead, another injured during a police encounter in Karachi. One accused lost his life, and another became seriously injured during a police encounter in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi. SSP Central Dr. Mohammad Imran said that the dead accused was later identified as Nauman, son of Yaqoob, and the name of the injured person is Mohammad Shehwar, son of Mohammad Ayub. In another incident, four accused were arrested in an injured condition during a police encounter in the jurisdiction of Police Station Iqbal Town.
