Teen dies during France World Cup celebrations

A 17-year-old girl was killed during celebrations following France’s victory over Morocco in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal after falling from the back of a lorry in northern France. The fatal accident occurred shortly after midnight as crowds celebrated the national team’s win. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

According to French officials, the teenager fell from the truck as it entered a roundabout and was fatally crushed. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and attempted to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead before she could be taken to hospital. The accident occurred amid large street celebrations after France secured its place in the World Cup semifinals.

Officials said six minors were present on the vehicle when the incident happened. One of them was taken to Maubeuge Hospital after suffering severe shock. Authorities have not released further details about the identities of those involved.

Police detained the truck driver for questioning following the incident. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the accident, including how the teenagers came to be riding on the vehicle. No official findings have yet been released.

The tragedy cast a shadow over nationwide celebrations as thousands of French fans marked the team’s World Cup success. Authorities have urged supporters to celebrate responsibly while the investigation into the fatal accident continues.
