Pakistan Railways suspends Balochistan train service for one day

Published on: July 9, 2026 10:19 AM

Balochistan train services resume after three-day halt

Pakistan Railways has suspended train operations from Balochistan for one day due to repair and maintenance work on the railway track, affecting passengers traveling to and from Quetta. The temporary suspension is aimed at ensuring the safety of rail operations while necessary infrastructure work is carried out.

According to railway officials, the decision was taken to facilitate maintenance on a section of the railway track that requires immediate repairs. Authorities said train services would resume once the work is completed and the track is declared safe for regular operations.

As part of the suspension, the departure of the Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar scheduled for today has been cancelled. Meanwhile, the Jaffar Express traveling from Peshawar to Quetta will terminate at Jacobabad instead of completing its journey to the provincial capital.

Railway authorities said passengers affected by the cancellation will be entitled to full refunds for their tickets. Officials advised travelers to contact railway reservation offices or relevant booking platforms to claim refunds or obtain updated information regarding future departures.

The temporary suspension is expected to inconvenience passengers, particularly those traveling between Balochistan and other parts of the country. However, officials stressed that the maintenance work is necessary to improve track conditions and ensure safe and uninterrupted train services in the future.

Pakistan Railways periodically undertakes repair and rehabilitation work on its rail network to enhance operational safety and reduce the risk of accidents. The department has urged passengers to stay informed through official railway channels before planning their journeys.

Officials expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the one-day suspension and assured the public that every effort is being made to complete the maintenance work as quickly as possible. Once the repairs are finalized, normal train operations from Quetta and other stations in Balochistan are expected to resume according to the regular schedule.
