Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared that Pakistan and Turkiye are entering a new phase of strategic and economic cooperation after holding wide-ranging talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul. He said both countries remain committed to strengthening bilateral ties through increased trade, investment, defence cooperation, energy collaboration, technology partnerships, connectivity projects, and closer people-to-people relations that benefit both nations.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the entire scope of the Pakistan-Turkiye Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to resolving international disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect. They emphasized that peaceful engagement remains the most effective way to preserve regional stability and global security while promoting cooperation instead of confrontation in an increasingly uncertain international environment.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed gratitude for President Erdogan’s hospitality and highlighted their shared determination to raise bilateral trade to the agreed target of five billion dollars. He said both governments would fully utilize the immense economic potential between the two countries while transforming their longstanding brotherly relationship into stronger commercial, industrial, and investment partnerships for long-term growth.

Addressing the Pakistan-Turkiye Business-to-Business Conference, the prime minister met leading members of Turkiye’s business community and praised their innovation, confidence, and entrepreneurial vision. He said their enthusiasm reinforced his belief that economic cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye is entering an exciting new chapter under President Erdogan’s leadership, creating fresh opportunities for businesses and investors in both countries.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz also credited President Erdogan for supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic role in mediation efforts aimed at easing tensions between the United States and Iran. Describing the initiative as one of Pakistan’s most demanding diplomatic missions, he said the country’s growing international engagement reflects its commitment to promoting peace, regional stability, and constructive dialogue through responsible diplomacy.
