
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Pakistan Türkiye relations remain strong and that both countries will always stand by each other. Speaking at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Istanbul, Erdoğan said their discussions covered bilateral ties as well as regional and global issues.
President Erdoğan welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation, expressing satisfaction with the progress in relations between the two countries. He said both sides also discussed increasing trade, investment, and economic cooperation, while relevant ministries will continue working closely on Special Economic Zones.
The Turkish president praised Pakistan’s efforts for peace, development, and prosperity. He also stressed the importance of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding for global peace and accused Israel of attempting to undermine the Iran-US agreement, urging it to avoid actions that could threaten regional security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Erdoğan for the warm welcome and hospitality. He said the people of Pakistan and Türkiye share a deep bond, recalling Türkiye’s support during wars, natural disasters, and flood relief efforts. He also said both leaders discussed expanding investment and achieving the target of increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion.
Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Türkiye’s position on Cyprus and thanked Ankara for its consistent support on the Kashmir issue. He said Pakistan Türkiye relations will continue to grow through stronger political, economic, and strategic cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
