Pakistani mangoes in spotlight at Beijing event as new trade deals signed

Published on: July 4, 2026 2:14 AM

The aroma of Sindhri and Chaunsa mangoes filled Pakistan House as the Embassy of Pakistan in China hosted the Pakistan-China Silk Road Mango Festival 2026, celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Co-hosted with the Asia-Africa Trade Promotion Office, the festival drew more than 400 guests, including Chinese officials, diplomatic envoys, business leaders, media representatives, artists and members of cultural and trade organizations, according to China Economic Net (CEN).

The event showcased Pakistan’s world-famous mangoes alongside a curated range of mango-based products, highlighting Pakistan’s rich agricultural resources and its long-standing reputation as a producer of premium-quality mangoes.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Pakistan to China Khalil Hashmi described the mango as the “King of Fruits” and a symbol of Pakistan’s cultural heritage.

He said sharing Pakistani mangoes with Chinese friends reflects the spirit of goodwill and the deepening friendship between the two countries and their peoples.

He added that the festival brought together Pakistani culture, commerce and cuisine on a single platform.

A key highlight of the evening was the signing of two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation in mango trade and logistics.

One agreement was signed between China Ole High End Super Market and Tianjin Midtrans Int Co., while the other brought together Hainan Jiao Long Technology Co. and RIC Nexus.

Adding a festive cultural flavor to the evening, the renowned Pakistani music band “Kaltoor” and students of the Pakistan Embassy College Beijing performed a repertoire of traditional Pakistani and Chinese songs, drawing warm applause from the audience.
