The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that banks and financial institutions across the country will observe a bank holiday on July 1, resulting in the suspension of public banking services for the day. Customers are advised to complete any urgent transactions before the holiday to avoid inconvenience.
According to the central bank, all commercial banks will remain closed for public dealings on July 1. However, bank employees will report to work as usual and continue performing internal administrative and operational responsibilities throughout the official bank holiday.
The SBP also confirmed that public transactions at development financial institutions (DFIs) and microfinance banks will remain suspended during the holiday. Consequently, customers will not be able to access over-the-counter banking services or conduct routine financial transactions at these institutions.
Meanwhile, the announcement applies uniformly to all banks, development financial institutions and microfinance banks operating across Pakistan. The temporary closure is limited to public dealings only and does not affect the attendance of employees or the continuation of internal banking operations.
The central bank has advised customers to plan their financial activities accordingly before July 1 to avoid unnecessary delays. Regular public banking services at banks, DFIs and microfinance banks are expected to resume following the conclusion of the official bank holiday.
