The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Tuesday handed a two-day physical remand of former police officer Tariq Mahmood and co-accused Ammar to investigators in a case involving the alleged murder of Tariq Mahmood’s wife. The police sought additional custody to continue questioning the suspects and recover the suspected murder weapon. The case was heard by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti at the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad. During the hearing, the investigating officer informed the court that further interrogation of the accused was required and that efforts were underway to recover the weapon allegedly used in the crime. The officer requested a four-day physical remand for the suspects to assist the investigation. After hearing the arguments, the court granted a two-day physical remand and directed the police to continue the investigation during the custody period. The court also ordered that the accused be produced again after the completion of the remand period for further proceedings. A case has been registered against former police employee Tariq Mahmood at Koral Police Station under charges of murder and other relevant sections of the law. The investigation is ongoing, and police are expected to present further findings before the court at the next hearing.
