Bilawal may get key portfolio as government invites PPP to join cabinet

Published on: June 19, 2026 9:41 AM

The government has invited the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to join the federal cabinet. According to media reports, If the PPP accepts the offer, party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to be assigned a key ministry, sources said. A reshuffle in the federal cabinet is expected after the approval of the budget for next fiscal year 2026-27, with several new faces likely to be inducted into the government. The prime minister has also sought performance reports from all federal ministers. Following the review process, changes to ministerial responsibilities are expected to begin. Sources indicated that the ministries of commerce, power, housing, communications, finance and foreign affairs could see changes as part of the anticipated cabinet reorganization. Several special assistants to the prime minister may also be affected by the expected reshuffle, sources added.
