The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday signed a tripartite agreement with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and 1LINK (Guarantee) Limited to integrate digital payment solutions into judicial processes, marking a significant step in the court’s ongoing digitisation and public facilitation reforms.
The agreement was signed at the Supreme Court in the presence of the Registrar, senior court officials, and representatives of the State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation and 1LINK.
The initiative is part of the Supreme Court’s broader reform agenda aimed at promoting citizen-centric service delivery through technology-driven solutions. Under the new framework, litigants and legal practitioners will be able to pay court fees electronically through approved digital channels, replacing the existing manual legal fee stamp system.
According to officials, the move is expected to provide a more efficient, transparent and accessible payment mechanism for court users while simplifying financial transactions related to judicial services.
The digital payment system is also expected to reduce processing time, lessen administrative burdens and minimize reliance on paper-based procedures. In addition, it is intended to strengthen transparency, accountability and ease of access for litigants and other stakeholders interacting with the court.
Participants in the signing ceremony emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to improve institutional efficiency and public service delivery. They noted that the initiative would support broader objectives of digital governance and the modernization of judicial administration. The Supreme Court said the integration of digital payment solutions reflects its continued commitment to modernization, innovation and technology-driven reforms aimed at improving service delivery, enhancing accessibility and strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
