FIR Registered Against Two Officials in Karachi Yellow Line BRT Corruption Case

Published on: June 17, 2026 12:41 AM

Karachi Yellow Line BRT

Authorities have registered a case against two former officials of the Karachi Yellow Line BRT project over alleged financial irregularities. The Karachi Yellow Line BRT corruption case involves accusations of misuse of public funds amounting to billions of rupees, raising serious concerns about transparency in the major transport project.

According to reports, a case has been filed against former Project Director Zamir Abbasi and Director Procurement Jhaman Das. The two officials are accused of approving advance payments worth approximately Rs8.5 billion to contractors, allegedly causing significant losses to the national exchequer.

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the payments and whether proper procedures were followed. Sources indicate that further arrests may be made as the inquiry progresses and additional evidence is reviewed.

Meanwhile, an anti-corruption court has dismissed a petition challenging the alleged detention of Zamir Abbasi. The court reviewed the matter and rejected the request on legal grounds.

In its written order, the judge noted that the lawyer had approached the court without submitting a valid power of attorney and failed to present arguments regarding the alleged detention. The Karachi Yellow Line BRT corruption case remains under investigation, with authorities expecting further developments in the coming weeks.
