Alkhidmat Islamic Microfinance concluded its three day Annual Strategic Performance and Planning Conference 2026 in Lahore, bringing together regional coordinators, programme managers, field representatives, development practitioners and economic experts from across the country to review performance and chart future priorities.
The conference was attended by Alkhidmat Foundation vice presidents Abrar Ahmed Magoon and Zikarullah Mujahid, Pakistan International Business Forum President Dr Mushtaq Mangat, Alkhidmat Islamic Microfinance CEO Usman Naeem Malik, Director Mian Babar Hameed, Chief Financial Officer Rameez Raja and other stakeholders.
Participants reviewed the organisation’s overall performance, future strategy, fundraising initiatives, community development programmes, loan disbursement and recovery mechanisms, adoption of modern technology and targets for the coming year. The attendees reaffirmed their commitment to poverty alleviation, promotion of self-employment and economic empowerment of vulnerable communities through Islamic microfinance.
Addressing the closing session, Alkhidmat Foundation Vice President Abrar Ahmed Magoon said that Alkhidmat Islamic Microfinance had helped 25,132 families move towards economic self-reliance during the past 14 years.
He said the institution had disbursed more than Rs1.174 billion in interest free loans since its inception, enabling thousands of families to improve their livelihoods and achieve greater financial independence.
“Alkhidmat’s Islamic microfinance programme is not limited to providing loans; it is also an effective tool for economic empowerment and social transformation. Every loan represents an effort to help a family move from deprivation towards self-sufficiency,” he said.
Mr Magoon noted that the programme had maintained an approximately 98 per cent loan recovery rate, which reflected its effective monitoring system, transparency and overall success.
He added that the organisation was currently working through 28 community clusters across Pakistan to advance its mission of poverty reduction and sustainable economic development. In addition to loan provision, these clusters offer guidance, capacity-building support and community-level economic development initiatives for beneficiaries.
Speakers, including Zikarullah Mujahid and Dr Mushtaq Mangat, stressed that financial assistance alone was insufficient for sustainable poverty reduction. They said continuous training, mentoring, monitoring and social support were equally important to ensure long-term success for beneficiaries.
They added that Alkhidmat Islamic Microfinance would continue strengthening its community development model and aligning its programmes with emerging social and economic needs.
The conference also reviewed the performance of different regions and set financial, operational and social targets for the fiscal year 2026-27. Participants expressed their commitment to exploring new fundraising opportunities, improving loan disbursement mechanisms, expanding outreach to deserving families and increasing the use of digital systems.
Speakers observed that millions of families in Pakistan could escape poverty with modest financial support and appropriate guidance. They said Alkhidmat Islamic Microfinance remained committed to extending its services to more underserved communities in the years ahead.
At the conclusion of the conference, certificates were distributed among participants, while innovative ideas related to organisational development community empowerment and social welfare were recognised. The conference reaffirmed Alkhidmat Islamic Microfinance’s commitment to empowering disadvantaged communities through Shariah-compliant, interest-free financial assistance and contributing to a more self-reliant and prosperous Pakistan.
