Authorities in Upper and Lower South Waziristan imposed Section 144 in several areas on Monday due to security concerns. The decision is important as it restricts public movement in sensitive regions. Residents, security forces, and transport routes are directly affected by the measures.
According to official notifications, restrictions were placed to facilitate security force operations and convoy movements. Moreover, several key roads were temporarily closed to ensure safe passage of logistics. As a result, public travel in designated areas was significantly limited.
In Lower South Waziristan, Section 144 remained in effect from 6am to 6pm, particularly around Wana and surrounding localities. Meanwhile, authorities closed major routes including Wana-Tiarza Road and several connecting arteries. Officials urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the restriction period.
Furthermore, in Upper South Waziristan, restrictions were imposed in Sararogha and Servekai subdivisions. Key roads linking Ladha, Makeen, Kotkai, and other areas were also shut. Authorities said the move was necessary for ongoing security operations and logistical movement.
Meanwhile, officials advised citizens to cooperate with security personnel and avoid obstructing convoys. They also warned against spreading rumours and urged reliance on official information. The administration said the measures were temporary and aimed at maintaining law and order.
